The Hard Work of Being Human
I’m writing this from bed.
My sleep has been disrupted lately, part of the shifts that come with perimenopause. I woke up already tired, carrying both exhaustion and hope. I’m an entrepreneur striving to cultivate a culture of care in a world where fear has infiltrated so many hearts. My savings account is thinning, and some days that reality feels louder than my faith.
And still, I believe. I believe we are ready to take better care of ourselves and our people.
When we slow down enough to listen to our bodies, we discover a deeper kind of wisdom. Sometimes that wisdom says, “Keep going.” Other times it says, “Stop. Rest. Lie down.” And sometimes it says nothing at all, except “Take one fuller breath.”
We are all carrying so much right now. Collective fear, grief, and uncertainty live inside us. Our nervous systems were never designed to hold this much. No wonder so many of us feel restless, heavy, or overwhelmed before the day even begins.
That is why I have learned I need anchors. Small, simple ways to return to myself when the world feels too loud.
That is how Coco Notes and Coco Codes were born. My husband, a silly goose who knows how to make magic with words, first came up with the name. It stuck, and it felt right, because “Coco” is my nickname. It is playful, familiar, a piece of me that feels like coming home. And these tools are exactly that: a way to come home to yourself.
Coco Notes are invitations — gentle journal prompts that open space for reflection when life feels too loud.
Coco Codes are mantras — short, powerful phrases you can carry with you, reminders that anchor you back into alignment and presence.
Together, they are small but steady tools for coming home to yourself, especially on the days when being human feels like too much.
They help me daily, and I hope they help you too.

Where am I exhausting myself by forcing control, and what would happen if I trusted life to meet me halfway?

I release the fight. I choose alignment over struggle.
Being human is hard, but presence is what makes it sacred. Power lives in the pause. My power is in my presence, and yours is too. When we choose to slow down, to listen, to love ourselves enough to stop fighting and simply be, we remember what is real.
This week, may we remember that showing up as we are, with what we have, and with love, is more than enough. If today’s Note or Code speaks to you, share it with someone who might need a pause too, or hit reply and tell me how it lands for you. I would love to hear.
